For the 2011 model year the Highlander Hybrid received styling changes and was upgraded with the 3.5-liter 2GR-FXE V6 (245 hp), increasing net power by 10 hp (7 kW), and a powertrain similar to the RX450h. Jun 19, 2008 I have read several excellent threads regarding shifting problems with Toyota transmissions. My 1991 truck (208,000 miles) W55 transmission has a problem that is slightly different. I have replaced the Pilot Bushing and Seat for the shifter and that helped the jumping out of gear problem.
Transmission Problems
I believe the answer is.220 FT LBS. I found this spec on the ALL DATA website for the 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Apparantly this refers to the 4 (Four) driveshafts that extend from the electric motors to the wheel assemblies. They are attached with a 35MM nut at the axle end and are hammered over to prevent loosening. Toyota highlander 2017 transmission issues. Vijaycars Posts: 9. I did manage to secure 8-year Platinum Warranty plan from Toyota at no cost. Oh, well, here is the bottom line: This is our third and LAST Toyota for sure. If they would have recalled the transmission proactively, I would have given them a second chance.
CarComplaints.com Notes: 2008 is the first year of the 2nd generation Highlander, & it may be a model year to avoid as Toyota most likely worked out some production quality issues with the new model.
The 2009 Highlander is the has far fewer complaints.
